Well, Sacramento did what they were going to do all along.  Continue taxing the crap out of you.  The sales tax will go up a percentage point.  By summer, Los Angeles County will have a near 10% sales tax.  The state individual income tax will go up.  The car registration tax will double.  Fortunately the gas tax will NOT go up 12 cents on the gallon and will remain at the “reasonable” level it is at today that earns the title of WORST GAS TAX IN THE NATION.    In many of the categories of tax that have been increased, California already was #1.  This new budget puts us even further above our competitors. California was already #1 in these taxes.  The Republicans signed a NO NEW TAXES pledge to get elected by the conservatives of California.  They lied to the people.  Now California is #1 in taxes by an even larger margin.  Can you believe the hubris of these leaders raising taxes during a recession?

With “conservatives” like these, who needs liberals?  The Republicans will pay for this. They are primarily responsible for this budget.  It’s hard to be angry at the Democrats (okay, not really).  However, they ran on a tax platform, won, and kept their promises.  The Republicans signed a NO NEW TAXES pledge, lied to the conservatives of California, and betrayed every single person who voted for them.  It was the Republicans who pledged to hold the line.  Without the Republican party’s complicity in this fiasco, the taxes would not have been raised. This situation should show that there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between the two parties.  They are both our statist masters.
